Our Leadership
In 1989, Pastor Francisco Guzman founded Iglesia Bíblica de la Trinidad (IBT) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, later joined by Dante Rafael Paz and Argelis Félix.
From 1999, Pastor Guzman has ministered in Haiti, planting churches, leading pastoral conferences, overseeing a literacy program that educated over 6,000 adults, and establishing the Espérance Haiti microfinance program.
Jean-Pierre, born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is a fourth-generation Haitian of Palestinian descent. He relocated to the Dominican Republic in 1976, becoming a naturalized citizen to manage his family’s plastic and Styrofoam insulation factory. A married father of three, he served as a deacon at Iglesia Biblica del Señor Jesucristo (IBSJ) in Santo Domingo from 1981 to 1987 and has been a part-time missionary in Haiti since 1995.
After his factory closed in 2009, he transitioned to full-time missionary work, collaborating with NGOs and Dominican churches in both the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Following the 2010 Haitian earthquake, he led relief efforts and provided theological training for a network of churches in Port-au-Prince and northern Haiti, while also strengthening microcredit operations across Esperance Haiti’s four branches.
David Saint-Hilaire, born in Trou Du Nord, Haiti, into a Christian family, studied at John Wesley College in Cap Haitian and earned a bachelor’s degree in Certified Public Accounting in the Dominican Republic.
While in the D.R., he worked with Iglesia Bíblica de la Trinidad (IBT) alongside Pastor Francisco Guzman, who recommended him to manage our microcredit operations in Haiti. He has been in charge of the program since its 2006 launch, initially with Esperanza International and currently with Esperance Pour Haiti.
He holds a degree in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), and since 2020, he has had the privilege of being part of Esperance Haiti. More than just a professional role, his involvement in this institution represents an invaluable opportunity to serve and support those who need it the most, especially the Haitian people, with whom he shares a very special bond.
From a young age, he was involved in missions to Haiti, following his father’s example. Those experiences deeply marked his life and shaped his vocation for service. Today, years later, he feels deeply grateful to continue that legacy from a place where love, dedication, and purpose guide the work.
He has been an active member of the Trinity Biblical Church since 2012, where he has strengthened his faith and commitment to Christian service. He firmly believes in the power of empathy, justice, and teamwork as tools to create a real and lasting impact.
In his words, it is an honor to contribute—through the gifts God has given him—to the well-being of their Haitian brothers and sisters through the work carried out at Esperance Haiti.
